I assume I follow the guide uing the rescue files?

Need help WD10000D033
Hi i am a new poster..I just acquired a WD10000D033 Drive I did not realize what i was getting into..I found that the case had the original 500 gig hdds removed..I installed new drives but It wont power on at all not even the fan..If i plug it in i get a blue flicker..I looked at the motherboard don't seem to have any popped caps..I understand that it requires linux o/s on a drive…Will this keep it from turning on? Fans ect? Or am i sitting with a bad case? Anything ive read is on repairing the image on the new drive but i got no orig hdds? How would i re build Linux? Really need some help..I would like to get this fixed and running if its something simple and not the case being bad..

NO Permissions on Drive.
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction came in this morning, and all my files and folders are set to Read Only and if I try to create a new file the drive tells me I have no permissions.
I have looked in the UI and I don't see anything where i can change permissions for the drive share. It is happing on all my computers that can access the drive.
This is on a WD Live with the blue rings. 2 hard drives in side it ..

Files for WD Blue 750GB
Hi
My HDD from a WD My Book World Blue single Drive with 750GB is corrupt.
Where can i find the files for a new drive.
I would try the files for the 500GB HDD but the files on rapidshare are down.
Can you help me please?

error two bleu ring flash
Hi,
I have a version of my book world II blue ring.
I want to install two hard 1t seagate brand st31000333as with firmware version SD3B.
I perform this procedure BlueRing Mybook Rescue tool
all okay when the procedure is complete
I performed the update to version 1.1.18 has the FW version 02.00.18 Version 02.00.19
but with both FW 02.00.1X release after five minutes I get the following error:
the two rings flashing and I do not just enter the web page
I understand that the raw temperature setting and ventillateur are to change.

Hi ,
after install of optware at my MBWE (blue Ring) I get this message when I logged in at the root.
When I logged in as admin I have no Problem all is running but i can not edit files or install packages.
When I logged in as root I get this message an nothing works. (vi, ls, cp … all commands doesn't work.)

Cloud storage sync
Is there a way to setup some cloud storage on Blue Rings (Copy/ Dropbox/ BoxNet…)? Actually I'm looking for Copy.com solution, but any other will be helpfull :)
p.s. I'm newbie to Linux :)

Drive Keeps Failing
I delete all partitions on two brand new green drives.
I setup a new drive A. Put it in, it works fine.
I put in drive B, format. Wait.
Change to Raid I.
Everything works fine.
SSL, the whole thing is great.
I turn it off, turn it back on. It's fine.
I turn off, turn it back on. Drive A failed.
I swap A with B. Drive B failed.
Format Drive B from within since it's detected as a new internal drive.
Files sync. Everything is fine again.
Turn it off, back on. It's fine.
Turn it off, back on. Drive A failed (which was the original drive B).
Swap it out. I can format it.
Any ideas what the hell is going on?
I've started fresh twice already.
And these are brand new drives that work fine when I mount them externally. My old drives also reported no errors when I did a complete 8hr disk scan. But I bought these just in case.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Largest HDD I can install?
Just found my never-used 2x500Gb Blue Rings MBWE in the Old Hardware Closet. It's been SSH hacked, but that was all I did to it at the time. It's FW version 02.00.18 currently.
Now that hard drive technology is so inexpensive, is it possible for me to install the basic operating system onto a pair of 3 or 4Tb disks? I suspect that there may be hardware issues, but I thought I'd ask first before I spent the cash on the disks and discovered it was not going to work out.
So, oh wise wizards of Embedded Linux, please let this NetBSD junkie know his best options for upgrading the disks in this fun little box.

WD10000D033 new case from a friend
Hello, a friend of mine gave me yesterday this case WD10000D033 without hdds inside. the problem is i installed a new hdd in the case, the hdd works properly it runs, heats etc, but fan, ethernet lights and the rings at the front doesnt work.. the hdd is completely formated none data at it. can someone help me what do i need to make this work?

Bricked, can't ssh, can't read from HDD, help!
Hi All..
On a Blue ring MBWE with SSH, I was tinkering doing something or other, and I was in /etc/init.d/rc and think I edited and saved the file by mistake as I thought I was correcting an errant keystroke.
This was a few months ago, but I am sure it was rc$ and I thought it was a typo and deleted the '$'. As you may tell, I'm a Linux dubutante and after reboot, I was unable to SSH in.
I later bought a USB SATA cable and attempt to retrieve the data onto a Windows XP Netbook using the disk internals software
diskinternals dot com forward-slash linuxreader
Recovery is slow and tempramental.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Cannot mount WDMB to other networkdrives
When I try to mount my WDMB through SSH to another networkdrive with cifs or smbfs or smbmount it always give me the message :
mount: Mounting //192.168.123.110/data on /shares/internal/nasdata failed: No such device
I tried to follow this thread "how-to-access-network-shares-from-within-ssh-interface-mbwe"
but I cannot install samba35 because it gives a md5 checksum failure while downloading.
And I'm getting a kind of stucked here.
If I mount from other linux devices to that network drive with the mount command it gives no problems.

replace drive with Clonezilla
Hi all, i have cloned my old 500GB drive in a new one of 1TB using clonezilla.
The OS boot normally, but if i try to extend the data partition with gparted live or acronis it never boot up again.
Have i to extend manually data partition with ssh as mentioned at the end of this tutorial -> add-new-hdd-to-wdwe ?
Is it true that Max drive size for WDWE blue rings is 2TB?
If i want to use 4TB drive have I to reinstall a new OS?

New disks and only 1led lights error
Hello guys, I got this device with two dead 500GB disks.
I disassembled the entire device for check some power error and there was one capacitor wrong, so I resolder it.
I tried to create recovery from this web on two 1TB WD disks.
After plug it to mainboard and plug power is light only one diode on LED/BUTTON BOARD.
Please is there any instruction for restore system on new disks??
And what will be doing, if is system restored badly??
Im really despred, because it is really good piece of device and it will be really shame throw it away :(

Do not start a blue ring despite the clone disk
Welcome. I have two identical network drives WD5000G032 and one of them can not run. No light blue light when turned on. Electronics is ok, I changed the electronics. Cloned disk clonzilla program, I did rescue the guide and still the same. HDD without errors. Why disk cloning has not helped. Where is the bootloader. Sorry for my English (translator).

Does Blue Rings HDD start in white light case
My blue rings Mybook crashed because it got too hot. Hard drives seem to be ok. I got a Mybook white light case and want to mount the blue rings drives into white light. Does this work or do I have to install Debian lenny from the scratch?

samba36 autostart?
Hi,
i updated my wd bluerings samba server to samba36(optware).
The config(smb.conf) is working and when i manually start the samba36 with a script (Sxxsamba) it starts like it should.
When i try to autostart samba36 (putting the Sxxsamba script to /etc/init.d) it won`t start after reboot.
When i try to call the start script Sxxsamba from WD Startup-script /etc/init.d/network-servers.sh it won`t start after reboot.
Could somebody who`s running samba36 on bluerings post his working autostart script here?
